Open Positions
The Intelligent Sensing Lab is actively recruiting and welcomes applicants from electrical engineering, computer science, applied math, optics, physics, bio-engineering, and related fields.
Postdocs & Research Scientists Recruiting
The lab has several open positions for postdoctoral researchers and research scientists in computational imaging, applied optics, and machine learning. Ideal candidates have a strong publication record and hands-on experience building or working with imaging or sensing hardware.
To apply, email metzler [at] umd.edu with:
- Your CV and a link to Google Scholar
- A short description of your research interests and how they connect to the lab
- Names of two or more references
PhD Students
Prospective PhD students should apply to the UMD Computer Science or Electrical & Computer Engineering PhD program and mention Prof. Metzler by name in their research statement. We are especially interested in students who want to apply machine learning to real-world optical and RF hardware.
Undergraduate Researchers
We regularly host UMD undergraduates interested in hands-on research in imaging, machine learning, and sensing. This is a great path toward publications and graduate school. Students interested in joining the lab are asked to first take CMSC498D.
